Discover the Deer Birthing Season: Important Visitor Notice:  All dogs to be kept on leads throughout Wollaton Hall & Deer Park during May to July. For everyone’s safety, please avoid Digby Avenue and Lime Tree Avenue when walking dogs. These areas are used by female deer to give birth and hide their young. Your cooperation helps protect the deer, your pets, and all visitors. 

Saturday 18th – Sunday 19th July – Splendour Festival is happening at Wollaton Hall & Deer Park. Please be aware that ALL Wollaton visitors with vehicles will need to enter the site via Lime Tree Avenue (located off Middleton Boulevard (Ring Road) – using sat nav NG8 1BT – this will be the only vehicle entrance permitted during the weekend. There is event parking charges (£15 per day / £25 for 2 days) in place for all visitors to Wollaton Hall & Deer Park, and the site will be busy with festival infrastructure in place & the courtyard closed. 

Peapods & Gillyflower : Tudor Textiles Exhibition will be closed on Saturday 1st, Thursday 6th & Saturday 8th August due to a wedding in the Hall.

Come and learn about…

History: Invasion and civilisation, life in Roman Britain, and what the Romans did for us

Archaeology: Investigating real and replica artefacts including bones, jewellery, coins, pottery, bone utensils and armour

In this session:

  • What would it be like to be a Roman child?
  • Learn about games played and at ‘Roman School’ discover which parts of Britain were inhabited by the Roman army
  • Compare sterling coins and use wax tablet and a stylus
  • Dress up as Romans and take part in a banquet
  • Handle and draw artefacts, understand the use of each and learn what each tells about those who lived in Roman Britain

Duration: 1.5 hours | 10.30am -12noon or 1pm – 2.30pm

Cost per session: £10 per head includes gallery access, lunchroom and bag storage
