Learn about Tudor Christmas traditions and about the natural materials used to decorate their homes.

Explore the beautiful grounds of Wollaton Hall on our special walk as we observe the signs of Winter all around us and collect natural materials from to create Tudor decorations including a traditional pomander to take home.

Dress up in Tudor clothes and take part in a short Christmas performance.

English: Increase vocabulary, speaking & listening.

Art:  Use a range of materials to design and make products.

History: Develop an awareness of the past, using common words and phrases
relating to the passing of time. Identify similarities and differences between ways
of life in different periods.

Maths: Practical measurement.

Science: Hypothesise, observe,  identify and classify, use observations and ideas to suggest answers to questions, observe closely, use simple equipment, perform simple tests. Identify and name a variety of common plants, including trees,  and describe their basic structure and function: roots, stem/trunk, leaves and flowers. Identify and name a variety of common animals, identify and name a variety of common animals that are carnivores, herbivores and omnivores, describe and compare the structure of a variety of common animals, observe changes across the four seasons, observe and describe weather associated with the seasons and how day length varies. Identify and describe habitats. Find out about and describe the basic needs of animals. Recognise that environments can change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things.

Cost per session: £10 per head includes gallery access, lunchroom and bag storage

When: 1.5hour session 10.30-12.00 or 13.00-14.30
