Invasions, settlements and kingdoms: Why did the Vikings come to Britain?
In this session:
- Understand the derivation of Nordic names
- Two time-travelling children discuss clothes worn at the time
- Decipher runes and map-out where in Britain they lived
- Create a brooch to take home
- Take part in a Viking funeral
- Handle and draw artefacts including bones, jewellery, coins, pottery, bone utensils, metal and armour
Duration: 1.5 hours | 10.30am–12pm or 1pm–2.30pm
Cost per session: £10 per head includes gallery access, lunchroom and bag storage
