A fun day for all to find out about the history of Wollaton  Park’s Secret Walled Garden, discover what was grown and how the garden looked and was run in its heyday over 100 years ago. Meet the fantastic volunteers restoring its heritage.

Tours of the Walled Garden give you an opportunity to see the 4-acre site with 12-foot-high walls and Head Gardener’s Cottage built between 1783 – 1788.

Explore the work done by volunteers over the last five years to reclaim the site from the ravages of time and the encroachment of ivy and brambles, to grow flowers and vegetables once again.

Tea, refreshments & stalls available (small charge)

Access: Mostly grass paths, some unavoidable steps and uneven ground due to the historic nature of the site. Accessible toilets and disabled parking available at main car park, a few minutes walk from the main walled garden area.

The site is part of Wollaton Hall Park, owned by Nottingham City Council, entry is via the walled garden gate next to Mr Mann’s and the 508 café. The open day is facilitated by the friendsofwollatonpark.org.uk/walled-garden/

Directions
Use the main Wollaton Hall car park (off Wollaton Road), normal charges apply. The gate into the event is in the wall next to the car park.
