Thought about joining a group that meets once a month to talk about all things heritage & museums?
Established in 1977, the Friends provide support to Nottingham City Council’s museums and galleries. They raise funds to help with the purchase of new items for the collections, and to support the Museums in their work.
Who are the Friends?
The Friends meet once a month for a talk usually about an aspect of local history or heritage and there are outings during the year.
Recent donations include £1000 towards the cost of a ceramic vessel by Pippin Drysdale for the Castle Museum, purchase of a victorian poster of Bendigo for the Museum of Nottingham Life, and £2000 towards the repair of the sails at Green’s Windmill.
The advantages of being a Friend:
Free admission to all museums (special events will incur a charge, excludes parking where available)
Copies of the ‘Friends’ regular newsletters
A varied programme of lectures, illustrated talks and organised visits to historic places, both locally and further afield.
The annual subscription is currently £16 (£14 concessions) plus a further small donation at the meetings
